We meet at our office for your bike fitting if bikes are rented and a briefing with the guide.
The first day we will discover the inland country side of the Llémena Valley with its big ancient farms. We will continue in the direction of Sant Gregori to cross the Ter river, and go to the Vilanna Valley, the hardest climb is in that area. After that valley we surround the ancient volcano La Crosa. Finally we come back to Girona by the fields near the city.
Stage 2: Girona – St Feliu de Guixols (50 Km 360m+)
We will start the second stage cycling by the ancient train rails that nowadays is a bike path (the Greenway). When we arrive at Llambilles, we will head to the Girona plains, where we will pass through the corn fields, farmhouses and small churches like Mare de Deu del Remei, between Campllong and Sant Andreu Salou. After the fields , when we reach Llagostera we return to the Greenway and continue to Sant Feliu de Guixols.
Stage 3: Sant Feliu - Torroella de Montgrí (53km 672m+)
This stage has two distinct parts, a very flat part to start and finish, and a central part with a great assent and descent. We begin the stage passing the maritime front towards Calonge, there, passing through the fields we will go to the interior where we will start a climb of almost 10km, to the church of Santa Coloma de Fitor, then we will descend until reaching the wonderfull medieval village of Peratallada and we will head towards Pals, another medieval town. Finally, passing through a flat area of fields we will reach Torroella de Montgrí.
Stage 4: Torroella– Castelló d’Empúries (48km 400m+)
This stage is practically flat, with only a strong climb at the beginning of the day. We start the route going to the magnificent virgin beach at the end of the river Ter. Then we will continue to the port of l’Estartit and we will head for the interior where we will start the day’s climb in the direction of L’Escala, before we turn off at Punta del Milà, where we can enjoy magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea. Once in L’Escala the whole route is flat passing through the Empordà plain until Castelló d’Empúries.
Stage 5: Castelló - Figueres (65km 1000m+)
This is the hardest stage, but it is all worthwile thanks to the best views. We come to Castelló in the direction of Empuriabrava, a village with navigable canals. Then we go to Roses, where we go to the beach of Alamadrava, across the seafront. There we begin the great uphill of the day, first passing by the tower of the Sastre and finally arriving at the summit of Puig Alt. Once there, we cross a long descent that will lead us to a plain of vineyards and olive groves passing through the villages of Pau and Vilajuiga and later on by the medieval village of Peralada. Finally, crossing the fields, we arrive at Figueres.
Stage 6: Figueres -Girona (59km 1000m+)
Last stage of the tour. This stage is divided into two very different areas. The first one is very flat through the fields and the second part very mountainous by the Gavarres. We leave Figueres passing through fields and small villages such as Vilamalla, Siurana and Camallera. We continue crossing fields until arriving at Bordils and from there we go to Sant Martí Vell where we begin a climb towards the interior of the Gavarres and ascend to the sanctuary of the Angels. Once above, we iniciate the descent towards the valley of Sant Daniel that will bring us back to Girona directly to the heart of the downtown, where you can have dinner at one of the good restaurants and enjoy the completion of the tour.
