The Great Tour of Empordà by road bike
The great tour of the Empordà starts in the magnificent city of Girona and offers a complete itinerary across the Empordà, one of the most beautiful landscapes of Catalonia.
Cyclists will have a fantastic view of this region, inland and coast. In few kilometers, riders will see a great variety of landscapes , such as medieval villages, little coves or traditional fishing villages. It’s a challenging route for medium level cyclists, due to its gradients that include safe mountains passes between 5 and 10km. This route takes you also to Cap de Creus, the eastern point of the Iberian Peninsula.
It’s a route that show you different places where Dali is relevant, such as Cadaqués, Figueres and Púbol.
The tour will start with a Loop in Girona – Llemena Valley – Girona, just to warm you up
The 2nd day you will climb the Sant Grau col with an stunning mediterranean sea view and then you will descent till Sant Feliu de Guixols. The next day you will cross the coastal villages as Platja d’Aro, Calonge and Palamós to reach the fisherman village of Calella. Then up to the Sant Sebestià lighthouse and to the medieval village of Pals. To finish in Torroella de Montgri
During the route, you will have time to visit the Ruines of Empuries and the Castello d’Empuries’ Cathedral. Also you can visit the Ornithological reserve, where you can learn more about these animals. The tour will finish with a climb to Els Angels.
